When Hurricane Harvey irreparably damaged the interpretive signage at the Texas Department of Transportation’s Travel Information Center in Orange, TxDOT called on Erin McClelland Museum Services to replace the signs with new, modern interpretive panels. Located on a boardwalk that meanders through Blue Elbow Swamp, the signs interpret the swamp’s ecosystems and the crucial role humans have played in shaping its present state.
Working on an accelerated timeline to repair the boardwalk after the storm, EMMS provided project management, interpretive planning, and graphic design services, and oversaw fabrication and delivery of nine new interpretive panels.
