Battleship TEXAS State Historic Site

Erin served as lead interpretive planner and project manager for the development and installation of interpretive signage and over 1,000 square feet of exhibits at Battleship TEXAS State Historic Site in La Porte, Texas. The site consists of the last remaining dreadnought battleship, which was commissioned in 1914 and served in both World War I and World War II. In addition to developing the exhibits, Erin planned and facilitated numerous stakeholder meetings and content and design charrettes.

Major components of the final project included:

  • Development of interpretive themes, subthemes, and learning points;
  • Writing draft and final exhibit text;
  • Management of interpretive assets, including photographs, documents, artifacts and oral histories;
  • Audience identification;
  • Identification of appropriate locations for interpretation throughout the site;
  • Cost estimates for design, fabrication and installation; and
  • Project management of design, fabrication and installation.
