In February 2014, the Texas Historical Commission contracted with Erin to develop and present a one-day course focused on interpretive writing techniques. Debuting in June 2014 in six Texas cities, Writing for Impact: Frameworks for Interpretive Writing focused on making written interpretation more effective and engaging to the public. Discussion included ways to increase the impact of interpretive writing through focused storytelling, relevance, thematic structures, and other components of interpretation. The day featured plenty of hands-on activities and opportunities to interact with colleagues.
